Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a three-day visit to the United States, which includes significant engagements such as the Quad Leaders' Summit and an address at the United Nations General Assembly's 'Summit of the Future.' The visit aims to strengthen international ties and foster collaborations on various global issues.

The Prime Minister will participate in the sixth Quad Leaders' Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted by US President Joe Biden on September 21. The Quad, comprising India, Australia, Japan, and the US, focuses on promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region. During the summit, leaders will assess progress made over the past year and outline the agenda for future cooperation to support the developmental goals of Indo-Pacific countries.

Additionally, PM Modi will address the 'Summit of the Future' at the UN in New York on September 23. This summit, themed 'Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow,' is seen as a landmark event as the UN prepares to enter its 80th year. With a significant number of global leaders expected to attend, PM Modi will also engage in bilateral discussions with various heads of state on pressing mutual interests.

On September 22, PM Modi will interact with the Indian community in New York and hold discussions with CEOs of leading US companies to explore collaboration in cutting-edge sectors like AI, quantum computing, and biotechnology. The Prime Minister has previously addressed the UNGA during High-Level Weeks, highlighting India's commitment to global issues.

The visit also comes against the backdrop of India's growing strategic partnership with the US, which includes extensive military exercises and robust trade relations. As the largest trading partner of India, the US accounted for $190.1 billion in bilateral trade in goods and services for 2023.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri noted that the Quad summit presents an opportunity for PM Modi to thank both President Biden and Japanese PM Kishida for their leadership in enhancing the Quad partnership. The visit aims to further solidify the comprehensive global strategic partnership between India and the US.
