Preethi Pal, at just 23 years old, made history by becoming the first Indian woman in track and field to win two medals at the Paralympics. She secured a bronze in the 200m T35 category with a personal best of 30.01 seconds on Sunday, marking India's second para-athletics medal at the Paris Games.
The T35 classification is designated for athletes with coordination impairments, such as hypertonia, ataxia, and athetosis.
Earlier, on Friday, Preethi had earned India’s first athletics medal in a Paralympic track event, taking home bronze in the women’s T35 100m race with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds.
Notably, prior to these achievements, all of India’s athletics medals at the Paralympics, dating back to the 1984 edition, had been won in field events.
