Story: The film revolves around three collegemates who lead their life in the most directionless manner possible as they pick petty fights, fall for women, and leave their studies to air. Will their lives come around before they complete their college life?
How did the actors perform?
Sangeeth is the star of the show and he runs it with his captivating and lively performance. He has a natural panache. The other two Nithins are alright in their roles. Gouripriya looks beautiful and she emotes well. The rest of the cast deliver whatever is expected of them.
What about the technical aspects?
The director Kalyan Shankar pics a madcap comedy entertainer subject and he doesn't pay much heed to the novelty factor. He narrates his thin story in a mas comedy genre and this works in its favor. The BGM and visuals are of standard quality. The soundtrack, as a whole, is good.
Analysis:
Mad starts off as a campus drama revolving around three careless chaps who have a reliability factor. Their stories can be resembled by the audience to a good extent and this works in favor of the film.
The opening sequence and the college entry tracks all have a fun vibe. Towards the interval, we get a feeling that the film has no purpose but to offer mad entertainment and we slowly get accustomed to it. We cant be looking for story and novelty in films like these.
The film stays true to its title with the mad entertainment that it offers. The scenes have a close resemblance with the common scenes that we see at engineering colleges. This is powered by fine performances from the lead cast.
The ending portion is a mixed bag. Those who love mad comedies and don't mind the lack of proper story will like this film as it fits the bill perfectly. It keeps you entertained, albeit with very little novelty.
Verdict:
Mad stays true to its title and offers entertainment while it falls short on story aspects and novelty. It can be watched for the comedy factor.
