India election result is ‘important signal for a puncturing of the politics of hubris’: Expert

India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday (Jun 4) failed to win a parliamentary majority for the first time in a decade. Ms Prerna Singh, Mahatma Gandhi Associate Professor of political science and international studies at Brown University, said the results were a testament to the Indian voter and a sign of how wrong exit polls can be. It is also an important signal for a puncturing of the politics of hubris and hate on the one hand, and the Hindutva political ideology on the other hand, she told CNA’s Asia First.
