Sheikh Hasina, the ousted prime minister of Bangladesh, has strongly condemned the arrest of a Hindu priest and the violence in the country that followed. She demanded the immediate release of the arrested Hindu priest, describing the action as unjust. Hasina also spoke out about the death of a lawyer in Chittagong, who was killed during clashes related to the protest over the priest’s arrest. She condemned the rise in religious and communal violence, pointing out that temples, mosques, and homes of various religious communities had been attacked and burned.

Hasina criticized the interim government in Bangladesh for failing to manage the economy and law and order, especially the rising incidents of violence. She called for the punishment of those responsible for the lawyer’s death, calling them terrorists and emphasizing that the lack of accountability for such acts would lead to gross human rights violations. Hasina also accused the Yunus government of exacerbating the crisis in Bangladesh, pointing out the violence against Awami League leaders and workers, students, and law enforcement. She urged the people of Bangladesh to unite against terrorism and ensure the safety of their fellow citizens.
