Andhra Pradesh Environment Management Corporation Limited (APEMCL) is expanding its operations to tackle new waste management challenges in the state. As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure environmental sustainability, APEMCL will now focus on monitoring and controlling biomedical waste, battery waste, and e-waste generation. The announcement was made by APEMCL chairman Polamreddy Dinesh Reddy, who was inspecting the Coastal Waste Management Plant in Nellore. Along with local MLA Kurugondla Ramakrishna, they reviewed the plant’s operations and praised its role in maintaining environmental balance.

APEMCL has made significant strides in hazardous waste management over the last six years, managing millions of metric tonnes of hazardous waste, effluent waste, and fly ash. The new initiative to include biomedical, battery, and e-waste in its purview is aimed at creating a comprehensive waste management policy for Andhra Pradesh. Dinesh Reddy commended the vision of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan for their innovative strategies.

The Coastal Waste Management Plant in Nellore, which was established by the previous government, plays a crucial role in managing industrial waste through advanced Treatment, Storage, and Disposal Facilities (TSDF). APEMCL has also introduced technological innovations such as the Online Waste Exchange Portal to ensure safe and transparent waste handling across the state. These advancements are vital for minimizing environmental risks and improving the overall waste management system in Andhra Pradesh.
