    According to a recent Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report, Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is the wealthiest CM in India, with assets exceeding Rs 931 crore. In stark contrast, West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee is the poorest, with assets valued at just Rs 15 lakh.

  • Average Assets and Comparison to National Income
    The report highlights that the average asset value of chief ministers from various states and union territories is Rs 52.59 crore. In comparison, India's per capita net national income (NNI) for 2023-2024 stands at Rs 1,85,854. The average self-declared income of a chief minister is Rs 13,64,310, nearly 7.3 times higher than the national average.

  • Top and Bottom in the List

    • Second Richest: Arunachal Pradesh's Pema Khandu, with assets worth over Rs 332 crore.
    • Third Richest: Karnataka's Siddaramaiah, with assets exceeding Rs 51 crore.
    • Second Poorest: Jammu and Kashmir's Omar Abdullah, with assets valued at Rs 55 lakh.
    • Third Poorest: Kerala's Pinarayi Vijayan, with assets amounting to Rs 118 crore.
  • Liabilities of Chief Ministers
    The report also points out that Pema Khandu has the highest liabilities, totaling Rs 180 crore, followed by Siddaramaiah with liabilities of Rs 23 crore, and Naidu with liabilities over Rs 10 crore.

  • Criminal Cases Among Chief Ministers
    According to the ADR report, 42% of the 31 chief ministers have declared criminal cases against themselves, while 32% have serious criminal charges, including attempts to murder, kidnapping, bribery, and criminal intimidation.

  • Gender Representation
    Among the 31 chief ministers, only two are women: Mamata Banerjee from West Bengal and Atishi from Delhi.
