India’s fast-bowling ace, Jasprit Bumrah, has been awarded the prestigious ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year 2024 title after an outstanding year where he picked up 71 wickets in 13 matches, averaging an impressive 14.92. This achievement made him the fourth Indian bowler to surpass 70 Test wickets in a calendar year, following in the footsteps of cricket legends like Ravichandran Ashwin, Anil Kumble, and Kapil Dev.

Bumrah's 2024 was marked by his exceptional performances in both home and away conditions, helping India stay in the race for the 2025 World Test Championship Final, though they ultimately missed out. His most notable achievement came in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, where he was named Player of the Series after taking 32 wickets in five matches at a remarkable average of 13.06.

He also crossed the 200 Test wickets milestone during this series, becoming the 12th Indian bowler to achieve this feat. Bumrah’s best performance came during a stunning spell in Perth, where he claimed eight wickets in the match, including a five-wicket haul, helping India to a massive 295-run victory.

At 31 years old, Bumrah became the only bowler in Test history with a minimum of 200 wickets to have an average under 20 (19.4), cementing his place as one of the best fast bowlers in the format.
