Jasprit Bumrah’s participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy is under serious threat after the star pacer was advised bed rest at home due to an injury. Bumrah, who took 32 wickets during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy, returned home last week after India’s long tour to Australia. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is taking a cautious approach to his recovery, as it is highly unlikely that they will rush him back into action.

A report from Times of India revealed that Bumrah will eventually need to report to the BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, but the exact date remains uncertain. The cricketer has been advised to rest at home to allow his muscles to recover and reduce swelling. Once that is done, a clearer picture regarding his future course of action will emerge.

Initial reports suggested the injury was related to swelling, but it appears that Bumrah could be sidelined longer than expected to prevent any further damage. Concerns have risen about the possibility of a disc bulge or a higher-grade muscle injury. Medical experts and stakeholders are determined not to risk aggravating his condition and are focusing on ensuring his long-term fitness.

This injury could significantly impact Bumrah’s availability for the ICC Champions Trophy, which begins on February 19. India’s first match against Bangladesh is scheduled for February 20 in Dubai. Bumrah’s recovery timeline, the severity of the injury, and his readiness for the tournament remain uncertain.
