Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, leader of the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress (YCP), is set to give a significant boost to his wife YS Bharati's political career. With his mother YS Vijayamma and sister YS Sharmila distancing themselves from the party due to property disputes, Jagan is considering making Bharati a prominent figure in the YCP. This move aims to fill the leadership void and strengthen the party's appeal, particularly among women voters.

In previous election cycles, Vijayamma and Sharmila played crucial roles in attracting women to the YCP through their advocacy and public engagement. However, during the 2024 elections, the party's women-centric schemes were overshadowed by TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu's promises of higher doles. This shift in voter sentiment prompted Jagan to reassess his strategy, recognizing the need for a strong female voice within the party to regain lost support.

Bharati, who has remained largely inactive in party politics and focused mainly on Kadapa, is expected to make a significant entry into the political arena soon. Reports suggest that Jagan plans to formally announce her new role as a major party leader by January or possibly sooner. This strategic move aims to counter the growing popularity of TDP's women-oriented initiatives and re-energize the YCP's voter base in the coming years.
