Over the past five years, Andhra Pradesh has faced significant political turbulence, particularly concerning the state's capital. The YCP administration's sidelining of Amaravati and its controversial three capitals proposal led to widespread discontent, culminating in a dramatic reduction in YCP's legislative presence from 151 MLAs in 2019 to just 11 in 2024. With the TDP+ coalition returning to power, there was a renewed expectation for Amaravati to regain its status as the state's capital, with a notable early investment of ₹15,000 crore towards its infrastructure.

Despite this, YCP continues to undermine Amaravati's prospects, with its supporters on social media actively promoting a negative narrative. They have circulated images and videos showing waterlogged areas in Amaravati, suggesting that the city is unsuitable for capital status. This campaign has provoked a strong reaction from TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu, who condemned these actions and accused YCP of spreading false information and trying to tarnish Amaravati’s reputation. Naidu emphasized that such flooding is a common issue in any city during heavy rains and reiterated his commitment to developing a world-class drainage system to address these problems.

Naidu criticized YCP's tactics as destructive and counterproductive, arguing that their campaign against Amaravati undermines the state’s development prospects and reflects poorly on the party's intentions. He warned that YCP’s actions would have consequences and vowed to continue working towards a better future for Amaravati and Andhra Pradesh.
