The Telangana government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has initiated the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) to address the critical issue of lake preservation in the city. This innovative agency has been established with a clear mandate: to combat encroachments and restore Hyderabad's lakes, which have been increasingly threatened by urban development and neglect.

During a recent event, CM Revanth Reddy expressed deep concern about the alarming transformation of Hyderabad from its historic identity as the "City of Lakes" to the troubling label of "Flood City." He attributed this decline to the policies of previous governments, emphasizing the urgent need for a dedicated response to environmental degradation. In light of this, the Telangana government is preparing to introduce an ordinance that will empower HYDRAA with the authority to take decisive action against unauthorized structures and encroachments on public land.

Reddy reiterated the agency's commitment to the rejuvenation of lakes, nalas, and the overall environmental health of Hyderabad. He assured citizens that despite potential obstacles, HYDRAA will aggressively pursue its demolition drive against illegal constructions. "We established HYDRAA solely for the revival of lakes and to protect the environment," he declared, underscoring the agency's unwavering focus on environmental restoration.

Importantly, Reddy clarified that HYDRAA operates without political bias, addressing concerns that some encroachers may attempt to manipulate public sentiment to undermine the agency's mission. He reassured the community that HYDRAA is not just an administrative body but a guarantee for the sustainable future of Hyderabad. "We are committed to this cause, and I urge everyone to extend their cooperation," he said, reinforcing the need for collective action in protecting the city’s natural resources.

As HYDRAA gears up to implement its strategies and assert its authority, the Telangana government's commitment to safeguarding Hyderabad's lakes and mitigating the impacts of urbanization is clearer than ever. This initiative not only aims to protect vital water bodies but also seeks to revitalize the city's ecological landscape for future generations.
