In a significant operation in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, the local police successfully identified and destroyed five acres of illegal ganja cultivation in Degalarayi village, located in the G Madugula mandal. The operation was carried out with the help of advanced drone technology, a cutting-edge tool now being increasingly utilized by law enforcement in Andhra Pradesh.

The use of drones allowed the police to detect the illegal crop cultivation in the thick forested area of the agency region, which would have otherwise been difficult to access. Once the crops were identified, the police took swift action to destroy them, ensuring the illegal cultivation was eradicated. Legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved in the cultivation of the ganja crop.

The successful operation is being hailed as a commendable effort by the police in their battle against illegal drug activities in the state. This initiative also aligns with the vision of Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, who has been a strong advocate for the use of technology in governance and public services. Naidu had emphasized the role of technology in daily life, and this operation is a clear demonstration of how advanced gadgets are being effectively employed to tackle criminal activities.

Notably, the recent Amaravati Drone Summit set five Guinness World Records with 5,500 drones and marked the beginning of a new era for drone usage in the state. This summit underscored the growing significance of drones in various sectors, including law enforcement.

Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan also expressed concern about the growing menace of drug trafficking in the state. He held the previous government responsible for the rise in drug-related crimes and stated that the current NDA government inherited this issue from the previous YCP administration. Following this, the police have intensified their focus on areas where ganja is cultivated, with the goal of curbing drug peddling and trafficking in the region.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the state government and police to tackle the drug problem and enhance public safety through the use of modern technology.
