In response to growing opposition doubts over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee has dismissed the allegations and called on critics to prove how the machines can be hacked. Banerjee stated that if people have concerns, they should demonstrate their claims to the Election Commission. He emphasized that if proper procedures are followed, including EVM randomization and mock polls at polling booths, the allegations lack substance.

Banerjee's comments come after the Congress and several other opposition parties raised questions about EVM reliability following the results of the Haryana and Maharashtra elections. However, he pointed out that no similar doubts were raised during the recent elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand, where parties from the INDIA alliance won without any allegations about EVM tampering.

BJP Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey also criticized the opposition's selective concerns about EVMs, stating that the recent wins in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand should have silenced doubts. He suggested that the INDIA alliance could not continue based on baseless claims.

Meanwhile, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah also weighed in, questioning the consistency of the opposition's stance on EVMs. He urged that if parties do not trust the voting method, they should not participate in elections. Abdullah cited his own experience of losing in the Lok Sabha elections but winning in the Assembly polls, without blaming the machines.

Banerjee’s comments are also seen in light of the ongoing leadership tensions within the INDIA alliance. After Mamata Banerjee expressed interest in leading the opposition bloc, key figures like Sharad Pawar and Lalu Prasad Yadav voiced their support for her leadership.
