Chandrababu Naidu Reviews Polavaram Project, Targets 2026 Completion

On Monday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu visited the Polavaram project in Eluru district to review its progress. During his inspection, he sought details from the officials overseeing the project. The officials informed him that more than Rs 1,200 crore would be needed for constructing the diaphragm wall and guide bund, crucial components of the project.

Speaking to the media, CM Naidu highlighted that the government aims to finish the entire Polavaram project by October 2026. Additionally, he instructed officials to complete the construction of the diaphragm wall by December 2025.

Naidu stressed the significance of the project, calling it the lifeline of the state. Upon its completion, the project will offer irrigation to a new 7.20 lakh acres of land, supply drinking water to 28 lakh people, and generate 960 megawatts of power. Furthermore, the project will provide 23 TMC of water for industrial use, making it a critical infrastructure initiative for Andhra Pradesh's growth and sustainability.
