The Andhra Pradesh Assembly, under the new NDA government, continues to make strides in public policy discussions, but occasional references to opposition figures also find their way into the sessions. One such moment came when Chandrababu Naidu brought up Jagan Mohan Reddy's controversial "Gulaka Rayi" incident during the election campaign.

Naidu recalled the stoning incident in Vijayawada, where Jagan was reportedly hit by a stone while campaigning. Chandrababu recalled how his team had been concerned about the incident, fearing it might generate sympathy for Jagan. "I completed my campaign and went to Hyderabad, but my team was panicked. They were worried that this 'Gulaka Rayi' incident might win him sympathy," said Naidu. He further added that such tactics were beneath politics and claimed that he had never witnessed such an approach in his long political career.

Naidu took the opportunity to dismiss the incident as a mere election gimmick, emphasizing that the public had already moved beyond such tactics. He pointed out that the overwhelming mandate in the election was a clear indication of the public’s verdict and a reaffirmation of his own assessment.

By highlighting the 'Gulaka Rayi' episode in the assembly, Naidu effectively countered the YCP narrative and weakened the potential political impact of the incident. The matter, which saw the hurried arrest and later release of a suspect, ultimately subsided. Naidu suggested that if there had been any real credibility to the claim of an attack, the situation would have been far more serious.
