The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have officially announced the appointment of Dwayne Bravo as their new mentor for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. This decision comes shortly after Bravo's announcement of retirement from all forms of cricket following a challenging end to his Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 season due to injury. Bravo steps into the role previously held by Gautam Gambhir, who left KKR to take on the position of head coach for Team India.

KKR CEO Venky Mysore expressed excitement about Bravo joining the franchise, stating, "His deep desire to win wherever he plays, along with his extensive experience and knowledge, will benefit the franchise and all players immensely." Furthermore, Bravo will be involved with KKR's other franchises globally, including the CPL, MLC, and ILT20.

Bravo's transition from player to mentor has surprised many fans, particularly those of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he is regarded as a legend. Bravo himself shared his enthusiasm for this new chapter, highlighting the respect he has for KKR's operations and culture. "The owners' passion, the professionalism of the management, and the family-like environment make it a special place," he remarked.

Having previously announced that the ongoing CPL season would be his last, Bravo bid farewell to cricket with an emotional Instagram post. He reflected on his 21-year career, expressing gratitude for the sport that shaped his life. With a remarkable record of 631 wickets in T20 cricket across 582 appearances, Bravo has left an indelible mark on the game.

As KKR gears up for the IPL 2025 season, the inclusion of Dwayne Bravo as mentor is expected to bolster the team's strategy and player development, leveraging his extensive knowledge and winning mentality.
