The recently released Tamil film Amaran, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, has found itself at the center of an unexpected controversy. A police complaint was filed by an engineering student, Vageeshan, who alleges that his personal phone number was used in the film as Sai Pallavi’s character’s contact number. As a result, Vageeshan has been bombarded with unwanted calls and messages, disrupting his studies and sleep.
The student has demanded ₹1.1 crore as compensation for the distress caused by these incessant calls, which have caused significant inconvenience. However, there has been no official confirmation or statement from the film's production team regarding the incident.
Amaran, released during Diwali, tells the story of Mukund Varadarajan, a martyred soldier in the Indian Army. Sivakarthikeyan plays the lead role of Mukund, and Sai Pallavi portrays his wife, Rebecca Varghese. Directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy and produced under Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, the movie has grossed over ₹300 crore worldwide.
