Raviteja's family, residing in RK Puram's Green Hills Colony in Chaitanyapuri, Hyderabad, is devastated by the tragic news of his untimely death. The 26-year-old had moved to the United States in 2022 to pursue his dreams of higher education. After successfully completing his master's degree, he was actively seeking employment when the incident occurred.
According to family members, Raviteja was fatally shot by unidentified assailants on Washington Avenue in the U.S. on Sunday, January 19. Preliminary reports indicate that he sustained fatal bullet injuries and died on the spot. However, the exact circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, as investigations are still underway.
The Telugu community, both in India and abroad, is deeply shaken by the loss. Friends and family remember Raviteja as a young man full of promise and potential, and they are now left grieving a future cut short. One of his friends expressed sorrow, saying, “Nobody should face such a situation. He went to the U.S. with high hopes, and now he is returning in such a heartbreaking way.”
Raviteja’s passing serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable dangers faced by students and immigrants pursuing their dreams in foreign countries. His family and friends are now awaiting further details and justice as authorities continue their investigation.
This tragic incident comes less than two months after another Telugu student, Sai Teja Nukarapu, from Telangana's Khammam district, was shot dead on November 30, 2024, at a gas station near Chicago where he worked. Sai Teja had also gone to the U.S. to pursue higher education and was working toward building a better future.
These incidents have sent shockwaves through the Telugu community, highlighting the vulnerabilities faced by young immigrants striving to achieve their aspirations abroad.
