The Tata Group is making significant strides into the semiconductor industry, as Chairman N Chandrasekaran announced plans to establish new manufacturing facilities in various locations across India, including Assam and Ozhur in Kerala. Chandrasekaran emphasized the group’s commitment to building a robust semiconductor ecosystem in the country.

The main facility, a semiconductor fabrication plant (Fab), is under construction in Dholera, Gujarat. This state-of-the-art facility will incorporate five different technologies, positioning it as a pivotal hub for semiconductor production. While Dholera will serve as the primary location for this initiative, the addition of facilities in Assam and Kerala aims to diversify production capabilities and bolster local economies.

Chandrasekaran's announcement highlights the Tata Group's strategic move to tap into the growing global semiconductor market, addressing the increasing demand for chips in various sectors, from automotive to consumer electronics. By expanding its manufacturing footprint, Tata is not only investing in technology but also contributing to India's ambitions of becoming a global semiconductor hub.

The initiative reflects a broader trend among Indian corporations to enter the semiconductor space, responding to both domestic needs and international opportunities. The establishment of these manufacturing facilities is expected to create jobs and foster technological advancements in the regions they serve.
