Tech billionaire Elon Musk has reignited discussions about the possibility of ultra-fast intercontinental travel, stating that transporting passengers between major cities in under an hour could soon become a reality. Musk highlighted SpaceX’s ambitious “Earth-to-Earth” space travel project, which utilizes its powerful Starship rocket, as a stepping stone toward this groundbreaking innovation.

Following Donald Trump’s re-election as President of the United States, Musk is slated to lead the newly formed “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) alongside entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. This collaboration aims to explore innovative solutions across various sectors.

Starship: A Leap Forward in Travel

The SpaceX Starship, touted as the most powerful rocket ever built, is designed to carry up to 1,000 passengers per trip. Unlike traditional space missions that venture into deep space, the Starship will fly in orbit parallel to Earth’s surface, enabling unprecedented travel speeds.

Projected travel times include:

  • Los Angeles to Toronto: 24 minutes
  • London to New York: 29 minutes
  • Delhi to San Francisco: 30 minutes
  • New York to Shanghai: 39 minutes

These estimates suggest a transformative impact on global connectivity, making the concept of ultra-fast travel a tangible prospect.

A Decade-Old Vision Gains Momentum

Initially proposed nearly a decade ago, the “Earth-to-Earth” project has gained renewed attention. A promotional video recently shared on X (formerly Twitter) speculated that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) might approve the initiative under Trump’s administration. Reacting to the post, Musk affirmed, “This is now possible.”

With SpaceX leading the charge in aerospace innovation, Musk’s vision could redefine the future of travel, shrinking the world in ways previously thought impossible.
