Salman Khan is an actor whose star power is unmatched. His films always manage to draw in crowds no matter how their result turns out to be, and the producers are almost always safe. He is now back with Tiger 3, directed by Maneesh Sharma, which has been released recently. Let us see how the film has turned out to be.
Story:
Salman Khan's character Avinash Singh Rathore, also known as Tiger, gets to know from a RAW agent that Aatish Rehman, a former ISI agent, is up to no good. At this point, Aatish Rehman is already two steps ahead of Tiger and manages to stop Tiger. Following this, what is the plan that Tiger comes up with, how does Zoya (Katrina Kaif) factor into all of this, and does Tiger finally manage to stop Aatish forms the rest of the story.
On-Screen Performances:
Salman Khan is once again back in his element, and proves his mettle as an action hero, perfectly performing his stunts, and suiting his role quite well. He does his part well enough, and it is good to see him back as Tiger, in a role that suits him more than anything else that we have seen him in recently.
Katrina Kaif is also quite good, especially when performing her stunts. When it comes to her performance, there's nothing new to her character, and she's alright in what she has been given to deal with.
Emraan Hashmi is done dirty in the film, frankly, with a character that is poorly written and is completely on one note. There are absolutely no layers or complexities to his character, and he comes off very routine. Apart from that, Emraan is good at what he is given.
Shah Rukh Khan can be seen in a cameo alongside Salman in the film, and this is definitely the major highlight of the film. He is good in his role, as usual, and it is a treat to see him along with Salman Khan.
The other actors are good in their roles as well.
Off-Screen Talents:
The film starts off on a very interesting note, but the pacing and the intrigue of the film are lost very soon, and it becomes very monotonous and expected from there. This downward trend doesn't pick up after that, and the fact that there's not much entertainment throughout the rest of the film doesn't help it further. The YRF Spy universe is known for its entertainment values, in terms of its action set pieces, and this lacks in abundance in Tiger 3, which is its main drawback, apart from the poorly written character of the villain. There is also no emotional connection in the film, which is another drawback.
Had the director taken more precautions, perhaps the film would have worked better, but with the flat narration, poor screenplay, and a script that feels undercooked, Tiger 3 doesn't really have a lot working in its favor, with the exception of Salman Khan's charisma.
The background score of the film doesn't help it much either, as it feels sub-par for the most part. The music by Pritam is also not memorable. The cinematography is alright.
The production values are great, and the editing is alright. However, the visual effects are jarring in places, giving a totally mixed feeling about the effects at the end of the day. They are a hit and a miss, and that doesn't help the film a lot.
Plus Points:
- Salman Khan
- Shah Rukh Khan's cameo
Minus Points:
- Poor story and narration
- Lack of entertainment
Verdict: Tiger 3 is a film that has a few moments that are high-inducing, but apart from that, there isn't much to the film. The holiday season and Salman Khan's charisma might help the film, otherwise, there isn't much to it. It can be watched only once.
