In a recent address in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu's Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin made it clear that he will not apologize for his previous remarks on 'Sanatan Dharma.' Drawing inspiration from Dravidian leader Periyar, known for his advocacy against caste discrimination and for women's empowerment, Udhayanidhi defended his statements, asserting that they reflect a long-standing fight against social injustices.

Udhayanidhi, the grandson of former Chief Minister Karunanidhi, faced backlash after stating in March that 'Sanatan Dharma' should be "annihilated like mosquitos causing malaria and dengue." His comments have led to legal actions against him, not only in Tamil Nadu but across India. However, he maintains that his words have been misrepresented and insists he will not retract his statements.

Focusing on the DMK's commitment to women's rights and social equity, Udhayanidhi also criticized Governor RN Ravi for omitting a line from the Tamil Nadu anthem, reinforcing the party's stance on local governance and representation. His elevation to Deputy Chief Minister has drawn scrutiny over family politics, but party officials assert his position reflects a democratic choice.

Udhayanidhi's firm stance and emphasis on social justice highlight the ongoing debates surrounding caste and gender issues in Tamil Nadu, as well as the broader implications for Indian politics.
