Andhra Pradesh’s IT Minister Nara Lokesh is currently on a tour of the USA, actively engaging with representatives from global companies to attract investment to the state. A key highlight of his visit was a meeting with Tesla’s CFO Vaibhav Taneja at the company's headquarters in Austin, where Lokesh encouraged the electric vehicle giant to consider Anantapur as a prime location for its EV and battery manufacturing units.

Lokesh pitched Anantapur as an ideal spot for Tesla, aligning with the state’s vision of transforming into an EV manufacturing hub under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He highlighted Andhra Pradesh's ambitious target of achieving 72 GW of renewable energy by 2029, positioning the state as a leader in the green energy revolution.

The state government, led by Naidu, has a track record of attracting significant investments, including the establishment of the KIA plant in Anantapur, which has created thousands of job opportunities in the economically backward district.

If Lokesh succeeds in bringing Tesla to Anantapur, it could mark a monumental deal for Andhra Pradesh, potentially giving the state an edge over competitors like Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, both of which are also vying for Tesla’s investment.

By fostering collaborations with global innovators such as Tesla, Andhra Pradesh aims to cement its position in the rapidly growing electric vehicle market and drive sustainable economic growth.
