On Day 4 of the Parliament Winter Session, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will take the oath as the Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Wayanad at 11 am. She secured a victory in the bypolls with over 6.22 lakh votes, joining her mother, Sonia Gandhi, and brother, Rahul Gandhi, in the Parliament. This is Priyanka Gandhi's first entry into the Lok Sabha. Congress supporters at 10 Janpath celebrated the occasion, distributing sweets ahead of her oath-taking ceremony.

The session, which began on November 25, has seen early disruptions, with MPs raising concerns over issues like the Manipur unrest and Sambhal violence, leading to adjournments in both Houses. On the third day, both Houses were adjourned within an hour. Additionally, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, will present a motion seeking an extension to present its report.

On the legislative front, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will introduce the Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024, aimed at enhancing the powers of the Railways Board. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will also move the Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which seeks amendments to several banking laws, including the Reserve Bank of India Act and the Banking Regulation Act.

Additionally, Congress candidate Chavan Ravindra Vasantrao, who won the Nanded Lok Sabha seat by a narrow margin, will also take his oath. The winter session continues with discussions around these key bills and motions.
