As 2024 comes to a close, many people are reflecting on their achievements and setbacks. Amidst this reflection, a few individuals have stood out as true change-makers, selflessly dedicating their time and resources to make the world a better place. Two such individuals are Gattu Giri and Paluri Siddhartha, whose acts of kindness and charity have touched the lives of many.

Gattu Giri, who established the Matrudevobhava Orphanage in 2018, was inspired by a personal tragedy—the loss of his mentally ill brother, who went missing and was found at a hospital under tragic circumstances. This motivated him to create a shelter for mentally-challenged individuals and orphans, providing them with food, psychiatric treatment, and counseling. His efforts have provided a safe haven for 280 people to date. Giri funds the orphanage through profits from his own business and generous donations from the community.

On the other hand, Paluri Siddhartha from Vijayanagaram, Andhra Pradesh, was motivated by his own experiences with hunger during his childhood. Starting the Annadanam programme in 2018, Siddhartha began providing daily meals to the needy, especially orphans, beggars, and the disabled. With the help of his family, donations from social media supporters, and contributions from government departments, Siddhartha feeds 50 to 60 people every day. Despite challenges such as power outages, he continues to serve his community with unwavering dedication.
