Potholes are a nuisance for drivers, but BYD’s newest electric vehicle, the YangWang U9, may make them a thing of the past. This futuristic, driverless car has the ability to leap over potholes with ease, thanks to its innovative suspension system. The YangWang U9, a stylish, McLaren-esque supercar, can reach speeds of up to 120 KMPH and can make jumps as high as 2.5 meters long and 6 meters wide.

In a video released by the Chinese automaker, the car is seen executing a flawless jump over a pothole, showcasing its advanced Discus X suspension technology. This system includes three key features: an Intelligent Damping Body Control System, an Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System, and an Intelligent Air Body Control System, which together allow the car to ‘bounce’ over obstacles effortlessly.

The YangWang U9 isn’t just about jumping potholes, though. It is also an autonomous vehicle, meaning it can drive without a driver behind the wheel. The electric supercar is capable of charging from 30% to 80% in just 10 minutes, making it as fast as charging a mobile phone.

Priced around $230,000, the YangWang U9 features cinematic looks that wouldn’t be out of place in a Bond movie. Along with its advanced technology, the car boasts the incredible ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in less than 2 seconds, earning it a reputation for blistering speed.

Ever since BYD unveiled the U9 at the Shanghai Auto Show, social media has been abuzz with reactions and memes. Some jokingly claim that the car will be perpetually in the air in India due to the country's notorious potholes, with others dubbing it “India’s first flying car.”
