The Lulu Group, once a significant player in Andhra Pradesh’s retail landscape, faced setbacks under the previous YCP government due to its reverse tendering policy and anti-investment stance. Originally, the TDP government had allocated prime land in Vizag for the construction of a mega-mall, a project that was ultimately canceled by the current administration.

However, with the resurgence of the NDA government and the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, there are promising developments on the horizon for the Lulu Group’s return to the state. In a recent tweet, CM Naidu expressed his pleasure in welcoming Mr. Yusuf Ali, Chairman & MD of Lulu Group International, and Mr. Ashraf Ali MA, Executive Director, back to Andhra Pradesh.

During a productive meeting held in Amaravati, CM Naidu and the Lulu delegation discussed exciting plans that include a mega mall and multiplex in Vizag, as well as hypermarkets and additional multiplexes in Vijayawada and Tirupati. The Chief Minister assured the Lulu Group of the Andhra Pradesh government's full cooperation and support, emphasizing the importance of their investment in enhancing social infrastructure within the state.

Given these developments, it appears that the Lulu Group is on a path to reestablish its presence in Andhra Pradesh, with plans for a significant mall in Vizag and further properties in Vijayawada and Tirupati. Notably, the land previously allocated to the Lulu Group in Vizag remains unused since it was reclaimed by the YCP government. Should the NDA government reallocate this land, it would not only mark a significant investment revival but also serve as a powerful statement against the previous administration’s policies.
