Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia will be contesting the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections from Jangpura, as announced by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Alongside Sisodia, civil services teacher Avadh Ojha has been named as the party's candidate for the Patparganj seat in East Delhi. This announcement comes with AAP’s release of its second list of 20 candidates for the Delhi Assembly polls, which are expected early next year. Last month, AAP had already released a list of 11 candidates. However, the ruling party is yet to announce candidates for 39 of the 70 seats in the Assembly.

The Jangpura seat has been held by AAP since 2013 when former Delhi Assembly Speaker Maninder Singh Dhir won it. After Dhir switched to the BJP, AAP fielded Praveen Kumar, who won the seat in the 2015 and 2020 elections. This time, the party has chosen Sisodia, who is currently out on bail after being arrested in connection with the money laundering case related to Delhi's now-scrapped liquor policy. Sisodia, like AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, has stated that he will join the government only after a verdict in the "people's court."
