Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu clarified that no action would be taken against Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) concerning allegations of bribery until concrete proof is provided. Speaking at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) headquarters in Mangalagiri, Naidu emphasized the need for more evidence, especially as the case is still under investigation in the United States. He noted that the state government cannot act based on mere allegations and will await the outcome of the legal proceedings before deciding on any further steps.

The allegations against AGEL arose from a US court indictment that accuses Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, of bribing Indian officials to secure solar energy contracts. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings suggest that Adani met with high-ranking Andhra Pradesh officials between August and November 2021 to advance Power Supply Agreements (PSA) between the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and the state's electricity distribution companies. While the indictment does not name the official involved, reports have speculated that it could be the then Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In response to the allegations, the Adani Group has strongly denied any wrongdoing. They argue that the US indictment is based on a misinterpretation and that the charges do not provide any evidence of bribery. The group claims that the negative reporting has caused significant harm, including project cancellations and financial repercussions. They have called for a fair examination of the facts before any conclusions are drawn.
