- Deepti Sharma, India Women’s Cricket, women’s cricket series
India completed a 3-0 series sweep over the West Indies in the final Women's ODI in Vadodara on Friday, thanks to Deepti Sharma's career-best performance with the ball and a crucial unbeaten knock with the bat. Sharma claimed remarkable figures of 6/31, supported by pacer Renuka Singh, who took 4/29, as India bowled West Indies out for just 162. India faced a brief wobble while chasing, losing four quick wickets to be at 73/4, but Sharma (39 not out off 48 balls) guided them to victory in just 28.2 overs, with Richa Ghosh finishing with an explosive 23* off 11 balls.
Earlier, West Indies struggled with the bat as Renuka Singh's fiery opening spell dismantled their top order, while Deepti Sharma spun a web with her guile and flight. Together, the pair took all 10 wickets, with Sharma claiming her third ODI five-wicket haul and second six-wicket performance. A 97-run partnership between Chinelle Henry (61) and Shemaine Campbelle (46) provided some resistance, but their efforts were not enough to stave off India's dominance.
India's chase was not smooth sailing either, with Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur both falling cheaply. However, Jemimah Rodrigues (29) and Sharma played vital knocks, helping India chase the target comfortably. West Indies’ batting woes continued, with only Henry, Campbelle, and Aaliyah Alleyne (21) managing double-digit scores. With the win, India secured a dominant 3-0 series victory.
