Thalapathy Vijay, the beloved Tamil superstar, made a significant mark in his political journey by addressing his first public gathering for his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in Villupuram’s V Salai this Sunday. The event attracted an impressive turnout of over 500,000 supporters, marking a strong start for the newly formed party.

The meeting began with a presentation of TVK’s core principles, which include advocating for an equitable society, secularism, state autonomy, inclusiveness, a two-language policy, anti-corruption efforts, a rejection of regressive ideas, and the vision of a drug-free Tamil Nadu.

Vijay’s speech opened to rapturous applause, where he likened his political endeavor to a child playing with a snake, representing the complex world of politics. He pledged to follow in the footsteps of great leaders such as EV Ramasamy, BR Ambedkar, and K. Kamaraj.

In a bold move, Vijay criticized both the DMK and BJP, asserting that their governance model is deceptive. He stated, “You fool the people running an anti-people government by calling it the Dravidian model,” underscoring his discontent with the current political landscape.

Highlighting the significance of women in his political journey, he referenced the tragic suicide of Anitha, an Ariyalur student affected by the NEET issue. Vijay addressed his critics by drawing parallels to iconic figures like M.G. Ramachandran (MGR) and Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR), who transitioned successfully from cinema to politics.

Vijay directly accused the DMK of corruption, claiming, “One family is looting the state by doing underground dealings.” He emphasized that he has chosen to leave his acting career to serve the people, reflecting a deep commitment to his political ambitions.

The actor-turned-politician further explained that TVK aims to differentiate between Dravidian nationalism and Tamil nationalism, asserting that they are equally important. He challenged the DMK’s characterization of the BJP as fascist, questioning whether their governance is any better.

In closing, Vijay expressed confidence in his party’s potential success, stating that the people would help TVK secure a majority. He left the door open for possible alliances, suggesting that collaboration may be necessary for political progress.
