As Election Day approaches, Vice-President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are locked in a tight race, with more than 78 million American voters already casting their ballots. Both candidates have been crisscrossing the seven battleground states, delivering their closing remarks in a bid to secure crucial electoral college votes.

In the national polls, Harris holds a slight lead over Trump, with a 0.9 percentage point advantage in the weighted average compiled by FiveThirtyEight. However, Trump is ahead by a slim margin of 0.1 percentage point in the RealClearPolitics average. The battleground states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the election.

Despite the polls showing a lead for Harris in some battleground states, the accuracy of polling data has been called into question in recent years. The 2020 surveys for the presidential contest were deemed the least accurate in 40 years, with polls for state elections also being the least accurate in at least two decades. The failure of polls to accurately predict the outcome of the 2016 election between Trump and Clinton due to factors like the education divide has raised doubts about their reliability.

As the nation awaits the results of the election, the race between Harris and Trump remains tight and unpredictable. With the outcome likely to be determined by the electoral college votes secured in the battleground states, both candidates are making their final push to win over undecided voters and secure victory on Election Day.
