The stage is firmly set for the commencement of the Indian Premier League with the inaugural match between Chennai Super Kings and RCB to be played on the 22nd of March. 

As the anticipation is building up on the first game of the tournament, there is a substantial update as Chennai Super Kings have announced that MS Dhoni is getting replaced as the captain of the side. 

CSK have announced that Ruturaj Gaikwad will be replacing Dhoni as the captain of the side and an official communication to this effect was made a short while back.

MS Dhoni has handed over Chennai Super Kings’ captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the start of TATA IPL 2024. 

Ruturaj has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in IPL during this period. The team looks forward to the upcoming season, the statement from CSK read.
