Public health officials in California have announced a voluntary recall of all raw milk and cream products from Raw Farm, LLC after bird flu was detected in the dairy's raw milk. The recall affects all Raw Farm raw milk and cream currently available on retail shelves statewide. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued the recall after samples from the Fresno-based dairy tested positive for bird flu on November 21.

This broader recall follows earlier, limited recalls and is part of efforts to prevent any potential spread of the virus to consumers. While no human bird flu cases have been confirmed in connection with the products, the CDPH advises consumers to immediately return any remaining Raw Farm milk and cream to the point of purchase. Health officials also recommend avoiding any Raw Farm products, including raw milk, cream, kefir, and pet food items.

The California Department of Food and Agriculture has placed the farm under quarantine, halting any new distribution of its raw milk and other dairy products produced after November 27. Although raw milk has long been known to carry health risks, such as foodborne illness, health experts have raised concerns over the increased risk posed by bird flu in raw dairy products.

As of 2024, 58 human cases of H5 bird flu have been reported in the U.S., with 32 cases in California. State officials continue to monitor the situation closely, working with federal and local partners to better understand the impact of bird flu on dairy products and human health.
