YS Sharmila arrested by AP Police

Andhra Pradesh police detained YS Sharmila while she was partaking in the Chalo Secretariat protest in AP today and was taken to Duggiral police station for further investigation.

Shortly after the arrest, the twee from Sharmila's tweet read "Democracy means nothing in the special constitution of Jagan's party. Will you be arrested and detained if you question unfulfilled promises? If this is the case for me as the president of the Congress party, then what is the condition of the common man? Are we in a democratic country? Or are we under a monarchy?"

"It is sad that the police illegally arrested Congress party leaders and workers, including myself, who were going to protest against the mega DSC. Remember that power is not eternal. There is no one in the secretariat to take the petition. CM does not come.. Ministers do not come.. Officers do not come." Sharmila wrote.

The fact that the chief minister's sister got arrested by AP police right ahead of the elections has become a talking point as not many expected such a development right before the polls.
