This Friday marks the 100th day since the NDA government took control of Andhra Pradesh, following a historic victory in the 2024 assembly elections. The coalition, comprising the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Janasena, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), secured an impressive 164 out of 175 seats, leading to Chandrababu Naidu's swearing-in as Chief Minister on June 12th, alongside Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.

In these initial days, Naidu’s government has aimed to meet the expectations of the people by delivering on several promises made during the election campaign. Despite the brevity of this period for comprehensive assessment, there are indicators suggesting that the state is moving back on track after a challenging five years.

Naidu commenced his tenure with significant actions, signing five crucial files that included commitments to fill teacher positions, conduct a skill census for employment, repeal the controversial Land Titling Act, increase pensions from 3000 to 4000, and reopen Anna Canteens. Notably, three of these initiatives have already been implemented: the revised pensions were credited on July 1st, Anna Canteens are operating effectively, and the Land Titling Act has been scrapped.

Moreover, the NDA government received substantial financial support from the central government for the Polavaram project and Amaravati capital construction. These projects are poised to have a significant impact on the state’s development.

However, the new government faced immediate challenges, including devastating floods in Vijayawada. Naidu's administration managed to navigate these difficulties effectively, despite opposition from the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Controversies like the hidden camera incident and food poisoning cases created further challenges for the administration.

The coalition among TDP, Janasena, and BJP has demonstrated strong coordination, posing a notable challenge to YSRCP. So far, there have been no signs of discord within the coalition, with Naidu and Pawan Kalyan seemingly strengthening their partnership for the state’s development.

While focusing on governance and welfare, the NDA coalition has also begun uncovering irregularities from the previous YSRCP administration, accusing it of widespread corruption. However, despite promises of accountability, no arrests of YSRCP ministers have occurred yet, leading to disappointment among supporters of TDP and Janasena, who expected swift actions against their rivals.

Overall, while it is still early to fully evaluate the new government’s performance, the NDA regime has made strides in meeting public expectations. Yet, there are concerns within the cadre about the pace of change and the fulfillment of promises, especially given the current financial constraints.
