- Lok Sabha debate, 75th anniversary Constitution, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra speech
A special two-day debate will begin on Friday in the Lok Sabha to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution. Newly elected Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is expected to make her maiden speech during this significant discussion. The debate will kick off with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and more than 12 BJP leaders, including prominent figures such as HD Kumaraswamy, Srikant Shinde, and Jiten Ram Manjhi, are anticipated to take part.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will respond to the debate on the evening of December 14, highlighting the government's stance. BJP and its allies, including key figures from the National Democratic Alliance, are expected to address the topic of the Emergency and counter opposition narratives, focusing on accusations of "fake narratives" propagated during recent political discussions.
Opposition leaders, including DMK's TR Balu, A Raja, and Trinamool Congress's Kalyan Banerjee and Mohua Moitra, are also likely to participate. Both BJP and Congress have issued a 'three-line whip' to ensure full attendance during the debate, emphasizing the importance of the event.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called for a constructive discussion on the Constitution's 75th anniversary, noting that the opposition is committed to ensuring the House runs smoothly. He also raised concerns about derogatory remarks against him and urged the Speaker to address these issues.
The debate will continue into the weekend and extend to the Rajya Sabha on December 16, where Home Minister Amit Shah is set to lead the discussion. The winter session of Parliament, which began on November 25, will continue until December 20.
